raised for service in the First World War.
History
The 207th Battalion, CEF was
raised in Ottawa, Ontario. The unit received drafts of men
from the 43rd Regiment, Duke of Cornwall's Rifles, which
resulted in the unit being perpetuated after the war by that
regiment (after the war, the 43rd Regiment became The
Cameron Highlanders of Ottawa). The unit recruited in
Military District 3 (Carleton County).1
References differ slightly on the eventual destination, but
not the fate, of the unit, which was broken up for
reinforcements for the Canadian Corps.2 |
