C3 105mm Howitzer

The C3 105mm Howitzer was an upgraded version of the C1 105mm Howitzer. The weapon was exclusively used by the Militia. A total of 96 of these weapons were procured in 1997 and 1998.

The gun was towed by an MLVW carrying both crew and ammunition. Extended range ammunition could be fired out to 18,000 metres.

This howitzer was described by the DND website as "a mobile, general purpose, towed field artillery weapon." The gun was manually operated, single loaded, air cooled and used semi-fixed ammunition, and was effective in both a direct and indirect firing role.

Structurally similar to the C1, the C3 is most easily distinguished by its longer 33-caliber barrel. Other improvements to the gun included the ability to fire all types of NATO 105 rounds.

The C3 was manufactured by RDM Manufacturing of Rotterdam, The Netherlands and delivered in late 1998.
