No. 68 Grenade The No. 68 Grenade was a rifle grenade, and the first hollow shaped charge projectile in history to enter service. The British Army developed this grenade to be fired from a rifle cup discharger, and first issue of the weapon was made in Nov 1940. As the war progressed, the introduction of other HEAT weapons such as the Projector, Infantry, Anti-Tank and the increasing thickness of German tank armour made the weapon obsolete.
