The 106th
Regiment "Winnipeg Light Infantry" was an infantry regiment of the
Canadian Army formed in the period before the First World
War.

History
The regiment contributed a large
contingent to the 10th Battalion, CEF in September 1914.2
The unit also contributed to the 8th, 61st, 90th, 101st, 190th,
203rd, 222nd and 226th Battalions of the CEF.3 On 12 March 1920,
as part of the reorganization of the Militia brought about by the
Otter Commission, the regiment was redesignated The Winnipeg Light
Infantry. Uniform
The regimental cap
badge consisted of a light infantry bugle horn with the Arabic
numeral 106, surmounted by a scroll bearing the title WINNIPEG LIGHT
INFANTRY with a beaver facing dexter (left). Slightly smaller badges
of this design were won on the collars (according to Mazeas, in
mirrored pairs with the beavers facing inward). Other ranks wore
"106" numerals on the shoulders while officers had the curved titles
shown below.4
